The collection includes seven letters from A.J.A. Symons: to R.N. Green-Armytage, 13 Sept. 1926, thanking him for a gift; to Green-Armytage, 31 Dec. 1934, thanking him for comments about Corvo with mention of other writers; to Dear sir or madam, 20 April 1936, asking for help in the cause of book collector P.H. Muir, bankrupted by libel; four letters to H.W.L. McCall, 1935-1937, on various transactions concerning the First Editions Club. All on First Editions Club letterhead, except for Dear sir or madam, on personal letterhead designed by Symons.

Alphonse James Albert Symons was born in a suburb of London and privately educated, until apprenticed to a furrier at age fourteen. With little experience in the book trade, he founded the First Editions Club, and soon published a bibliography of William Butler Yeats.
